Wedding LOL 2015

I started a Google doc spreadsheet

Not to spoil the ending to my book or anything, but I'm getting married. Circa 2015. Probably Spring, or Summer. Those seem like nice seasons!

Today was the first day I made calls to schedule venue tours. The conversations have been interesting.

"When are you looking to get married?"

"2015! Or like whenever!"

"What is your style of decor?"

"Just like wedding-style!"

I'm entertaining any and all options. In the running: a camp ground with cabins. A private dock. An old castle. A restaurant with a fish on the wall. Also, what if I got married at the zoo? But not in an event space, just in and around elephants. I don't know if this is possible though.

I'm not hyper-particular about any of the little details. I just want it to be fun and not like a prom. I'm apathetic about Pinterest, and DIY gives me anxiety. I dislike repetitive tasks that require dexterity, like fastening twine around quarter-sized boxes filled with jelly beans emblazoned with my and my fiancé's face.

What is a wedding? Everyone says, "It is a party!" In the past, when I've hosted parties, they have all had the following characteristics:

1) Board games that involve charades / some form of flailing

2) A signature cocktail invented by me, always requiring the barest minimum in terms of skill level (e.g. The "Pom Bomb": Sprite, vodka, and pomegranate juice, in no particular ratio)

3) Snacks and defrosted hors d'oeuvres from Trader Joe's

If that doesn't sound like a wedding, I don't know what does.

Then there's the question of: In what order will I plan everything? Say Yes to the Dress suggests I should pick my venue first, then determine what style dress to wear. And I fear my wedding dress conversations won't be much more productive than the ones concerning venue.

"What style dress are you looking for?"

"Just comfortable. No pit-stains."

Mostly I want to be able to dance like nobody's watching, and tweet like nobody's following.

In any case, throughout the process I will be sure to keep you all engaged (NO PUN INTENDED! LOLOLOLOL). This should be fun, right? I really kinda like my fiancé a whole lot, so as long as I keep that in the very front of my mind, there shouldn't be too much stress.

We shall see, my lieblings. We shall see!

Love,
Felicia

  1. I have a coworker who is getting married this fall and their venue is a independent movie theater. Seats about 100 people and they will put a stage in front of the screen. Since it is an independent movie theatre, it's swankier than your average theater. She's wearing chucks with her wedding dress and after the wedding they are showing a rom-com movie with appetizers in the foyer. Which all just sounds like my kind of wedding lol No real decorations, comfortable shoes, and food.
